Carolyn Duncan
Senior Associate for Public Affairs

For Carolyn, life’s a beach. Literally, in West Seattle. Close proximity to a beach is her happiness. Blame it on Dad, who filled her childhood with camping, clamming and fishing. As an adult, her experience with the environment includes crisis communication and issues management on some of the most pressing environmental issues of our time. Under Governor Gary Locke she oversaw media relations when Chinook salmon were first listed under the Endangered Species Act. Under County Executive Ron Sims she led communications for his aggressive climate change adaptation initiative. These are just two of the dozens of hot issues Carolyn has been immersed in during a 35-year career in broadcast journalism and public affairs. Her pull-out-all-the-stops and get-things-done approach served her well working side-by-side with Governor Locke and county executives Sims and Kurt Triplett. In her spare time you’ll find Carolyn chasing Amelia Earhart, her aerialist kitty, who favors rooftops and treetops by the beach.
